Tengo en la mente el silencio de la bahía

                                       "Están bombardeando Bagdad"

Tengo en la mente un camino
que se extiende sobre las colinas secas
de árboles florales dispersos
por todo el árido espacio.

Colinas solitarias;
árboles y arbustos amarillos
que pisan su peso sobre la tierra,
perdiendo lentamente su humedad
y convertíendose en leña.

Más abajo, veo la bahía:
mar y arena negra.

Un silencio anestésico rasca mi piel
temo su temporalidad:
silencio perecedero.

I have in Mind the Silence of the Bay

                                                                              "They are bombing Baghdad"

I have a road in mind
extending over dry hills,
with flowering trees
dispersed all over the arid space.

Lonely hills;
Trees and yellowish bush
press their weight on the earth,
slowly lose moisture
and become firewood.

Downwards, I see the bay:
Sea and black sand.

Anaesthetic silence scratches my skin;
I fear its temporariness:
this perishable silence.
